Hi,
We have listed medical transcription and other transcription ‘jobs’ on the Internet as one of the prevelant scams. It does not mean that the jobs for transcriptionists do not exist. Hospitals and third party concerns that work for medical institutions do hire people to do transcription. And some of them are home workers as well. What does qualify as a scam is when you are asked to join some ‘work from home’ program that asks you to pay up to join.
They will generally tell you that they have a great training program and will send you this amazing software that will get you up and running making 100s of dollars a day in no time. It does not quiet work like that. They will give you the impression that they will set you up in the business of transcription and you will have dozens of clients that will pay you.
The reality is far from the truth. After they have taken your money and send you a software that is really not worth anything. You can download better ones for free. And they will leave you to go out there and find clients all by yourself. They are not going to give you a SINGLE paying client. You are going to have to do all the leg work yourself.
The point we are trying to make is that you can do transcription work if you are an EXPERIENCED TRANSCRIPTIONIST. And you do not have to pay anyone to get the resources.
